List Of Helpful Moving Tips and More

Planning a big move? To make your experience smooth and stress-free, we recommend packing and preparing in advance. Start by creating a list of the services you’ll need from Little Justin's Moving. This can include loading and unloading, required packing materials, items to be packed or unpacked by the crew, disassembly or reassembly of furniture, and any special handling services.

If you choose not to have Little Justin’s Moving pack and prepare your items, here are a few helpful tips to guide you through packing on your own:

  • Pack books and other heavy objects in smaller boxes for easier lifting. Use large boxes for lightweight or bulky items.
  • Try to use boxes of the same size for easy stacking in the moving truck.
  • Seal boxes completely with packing tape to prevent items from falling out. Tape both the bottom and the top to cover all open spaces.
  • Wrap small or fragile items individually to prevent damage.
  • Creating an inventory list of your items is helpful for both you and the moving crew to identify everything easily.
  • When possible, re-pack items in their original boxes and packing materials, especially electronics or fragile items. Pay special attention to more valuable belongings.
  • Use wardrobe boxes to hang clothes when packing garments.
  • Fill boxes completely, using packing paper to fill any gaps. This prevents boxes from collapsing when stacked. Avoid packing fragile items too tightly to reduce the risk of breakage.
  • Label your boxes with the contents and which room they belong to. This makes the move quicker and easier for both you and the moving crew. You can write the following: Where is it going? How fragile are the items? When will you need it? What area of the home is it for?
  • Ensure the boxes you will need first are the last to be loaded onto the truck, as they will be the first unloaded.
  • It’s important to pack valuables, such as money, securities, important papers, and jewelry, yourself. Moving companies should not handle these items, as they are safer in your possession.

*Any flammable items such as, aerosol cans, paints, gasoline, oils, etc. will NOT be packed by the movers*
